The biggest annual fishing tournament returns to Cayman. It's the 4th Annual Kriėger Rooster Shootout Fishing tournament brought to you by Island Companies, which started  March 16th this year.  Hurleys Entertainment is proud to announce Kriėger as the title sponsor.  The Tournament organizers encouraged all anglers from last year to compete again, and welcomed new competitors to join as well. Fishing dates for the Kriėger Rooster Shootout were Friday through Sunday, March 16th, 17th, and 18th. The weigh station was held at the Grand Harbour Dock, on the canal behind the Grand Harbour Shopping Centre.

Prizes in the Kriėger Rooster Shootout included US twenty three thousand five hundred dollars in cash to be won.  Additionally, the captain's prize for the most weight total per boat was an ocean-life print by the renowned marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey, and one of the most revered marine watches in recent maritime history, the Kriėger Tidal Wave Chronoscope worth US$2195. Hand-made in Switzerland and acclaimed for its ability to accurately display the present state of the tides and to predict how many hours till the next high
or low tide.  Most significantly it has a water resistance rating of almost one-half-mile (2640 feet).  A serious instrument for the serious sportsman. Island Companies 'The Landmark Jewellers' in George Town is Grand Cayman's exclusive retailer of Kriėger Swiss Chronometers and the Tidal Wave Chronoscope. The Kriėger watches were on display throughout the tournament at the weigh station. Making this year's tournament an event like no other, Ira Kriėger the inventor & President himself was in attendance.

The Kriėger Rooster Shootout Fishing Tournament had an entry fee of  CI$500  per boat, including a captain and up to 3 anglers, all of whom could fish. Additional anglers were CI$100.  To encourage Junior Angler participation this year, those 14 years and younger competed for free.

Registration for the tournament took place from 6PM-8PM on Wednesday March
14 at Harvey's Island Grill in the Aquaworld Mall, South Church Street, George Town.


The Cash Prizes for the Kriėger Rooster Shootout were as follows:

The Angler who had the heaviest weight in each category of Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna and Dolphin received:

1st Place   US$4000

2nd Place  US$2000

3rd Place  US$1000

  FINAL RESULTS 

Prizes were each per category. There was also cash to be won for the heaviest qualifying fish caught Friday March 16 by any boat which participated in the 8:30AM Bimini start.  All boats participating had to be in the harbour by no later than 8:15AM.  Aerial photography shot from a helicopter documented the Bimini Start.  For more information on the Kriėger Rooster Shootout call Rooster 101 business office at 945-1166
